Phoenix
Center City:
As with the mythical bird reborn from its own ashes, downtown
Phoenix has emerged as one of the most desirable urban cities in
the
United States.
Home to the Heard Museum, one of the finest and largest museums
of anthropology and primitive art, specializing in the
Amerindian cultures; Arizona Center, Phoenix’s answer to New
York’s South Street Seaport, an eight city block oasis of
restaurants, bars and shops; Heritage Square, a group of
perfectly restored 19th-century houses; the Herberger,
Dodge and Orpheum Theaters; Symphony Hall; America West Arena
and the Bank
One Ball
Park, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks. After several false starts,
downtown
Phoenix is on target for a new Metro Light rail
system that will give urban residents a quick and easy
transportation alternative.

The 1931 Phoenix Title and Trust
Building originally accommodated a bank and retail shops at street level with
commercial offices on the upper floors. At the time of its construction,
it was the largest office building in the state of
Arizona. The 11-story
Art Deco concrete and brick structure features exterior details in
stone, granite and terra cotta, and original steel frame windows
throughout the building. The developers made every effort to preserve
the detail of the original structure while retrofitting it to meet
future-based techno-logical requirements. |
